The sports watch is undoubtedly one of the hottest categories in watchmaking at the moment. And it is very understandable, since most watches available that fit the bill are well-built and offer a great deal of care-free style and comfort. The same goes for the NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date, one of the brand’s most robust watches to date. First presented with a deep black dial, it now gets a steel-and-blue makeover and it looks rather fetching! Here is the NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue.
When you think of NOMOS you are likely thinking of somewhat refined, Bauhaus-inspired watches with the odd quirky detail here and there. Recent examples are the unusual Autobahn Director’s Cut and the funky Club Campus Absolute Grey & Future Orange. So when it comes to a NOMOS sports watch, you’d rightfully expect it to fall in line with the brand’s design codes.
The new NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue is a twist on the already existing black dial version. It is presented in a 42mm wide stainless steel case with a relatively modest height of 10.2mm. The exterior of the case is fully polished, and fitted with sapphire crystals on both sides. The case construction and screw-down crown ensure a 300m water-resistance. The crown stem is fitted with a red-coloured ring to indicate when it is unscrewed, as a safety precaution.
The Club Sports’ deep-sea blue dial is where this new model really shines, with its fine sunray brushed finish livening it up in the light. In a typical NOMOS style, the dial remains clean and very legible. Large, white numerals and baton hour indices are coated with Super-LumiNova, as are the sword-shaped hours and minute hands. At 6 o’clock there is a small seconds subdial with a circular pattern finish and a polished steel hand.
The NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue comes with the brand’s in-house DUW 6101 calibre. This movement has a patented bidirectional quick-set date mechanism, as well as the NOMOS swing system escapement. It runs at a frequency of 21,600vph and when fully wound runs for 42 hours. It’s nicely finished with blued screws, Côtes de Genève and perlage, and topped with a skeletonized rotor.
The new NOMOS Club Sport Neomatik 42 Date Blue comes with a new style three-link bracelet, with brushed outer links and polished middle links. The watch retails for EUR 3,120.
