Bulova is reigniting a timeless design from 1973 as it expands its esteemed Classics assortment of watches. This New York headquartered brand has such a rich history, especially in America where it was born, that turning to the 1970’s was the perfect way to recall that vibrant era in a manner perfect for today. The new additions, called the Jet Star timepieces, draw inspiration from a 1973 Bulova design that has been dormant for five decades.
The Classic Jet Star collection now includes three new models, each embodying a refined and understated aesthetic with meticulous attention to detail. These vintage-inspired watches from Bulova integrate proprietary movements from Bulova Manufacture, which are known for their world-first developments and exceptional accuracy.
Powering the new Jet Star watches is the Bulova Manufacture Precisionist High Precision Quartz movement. This impressive movement operates at a remarkable frequency of 262kHz, ensuring accuracy within a margin of +/- 5 seconds per month. Additionally, the smooth sweeping second hand beats 16 times per second, adding to the precision of the timekeeping experience.
Retaining many design elements from the original 1973 model, the Jet Star timepieces pay homage to Bulova’s heritage. The hands, markers, and bracelets have been carefully selected from Bulova’s archive. The super-cool turtle-shaped case has been updated, as well, to a contemporary angular shape measuring 40mm in diameter.
The three original dial colors from the 1970s era exhibit a captivating and dramatic dégradé effect. The first Jet Star watch features a stainless steel construction with a rich merlot dial. It comes with a matching stainless steel bracelet equipped with a double press deployant buckle. The second model boasts a butterscotch dial, a gold-tone stainless steel case, and is adorned with a perforated brown leather strap highlighted by yellow contrast stitching and a three-piece buckle, offering a sportier appearance. Both models are priced at $595.
Furthermore, there is a Limited Edition Jet Star model, presented in a special numbered box set. It includes a stainless steel bracelet and an additional blue leather strap. This exceptional timepiece showcases a clean, bright silvery dial with blue accents, red hands, and indices. Limited to only 7,300 pieces, it is priced at $695.
All styles in the Jet Star collection are equipped with a domed sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating. Other notable features include luminous hands and cabochons at the hours, a date window at 3 o’clock, 50M water resistance, and interchangeable bracelets and straps with easy release latched spring bars.
Bulova’s revitalized Classic Jet Star collection stands as a testament to the brand’s dedication to its heritage and timeless designs. By integrating modern technology and exceptional craftsmanship, Bulova offers watch enthusiasts a chance to experience the elegance of the past with the precision of the present.
