 Urwerk UR-105M Trinity! T-Rex

The new Urwerk UR-105M Trinity! T-Rex

Coming up on April 18 via the Out of This World auction by Koller Auktionen In Association with Wunderkammer, dinosaur fanatics will have the chance to buy their very own Tyrannosaurus Rex. The entire skeleton of the T-Rex Trinity (TRX-293 Trinity), who roamed the Earth 65 million years ago, is being auctioned. Additionally, there is the chance to bid on the Urwerk UR-105M Trinity! watch, with encapsulated fragments of the Trinity dinosaur in it.

The bones used to certify and date the mastodon TRX-293 Trinity presented by Koller Auktionen also inspired the one-of-a-kind UR-105M Trinity!. The new  Trinity watch  is different from the previous UR-105M T-Rex that sold for about CHF 50,000, in that this piece is unique and includes Trinity fragments. However, the watch boasts the same textured, ribbed, scaly like “skin” to reflect the T-Rex.

The T-Rex 293-Trinity dinosaur skeleton is estimated to sell for between 5and 8 million Swiss francs.

The UR-105M T-Rex Trinity! Has DNA from the TRX-293 Trinity skeleton in it – with fragments visible via a small disk on the case back with transparent sapphire crystal. Like its predecessor, the UR-105M-Trinity is a satellite hours watch bearing three hours numerals on each of four satellites. The cover is made of PolyEtherEtherketone (PEEK).  The estimates for the sale of this watch are between 80-120 Swiss Francs.  The estimate for the TRX-293 Trinity skeleton is between 5 and 8 million Swiss Francs.

This is the first time in Europe and the third time in the world that the skeleton of a T. rex dinosaur of such quality has been offered at auction. With more than 50 percent original bone material and mounted in a dynamic, scientifically accurate and modern pose, the 67-million-year-old TRX-293 TRINITY is among the finest known unearthed specimens of one of the largest terrestrial predators that ever ruled our planet. The bone material consists of three exceptional Tyrannosaurus specimens that were unearthed between 2008 and 2013.

According to Urwerk  artistic director and co-founder Martin Frei explains: “The imposing presence of the T. rex meets and mingles with the fragile mechanical ticking of our T-Rex, the two echoing and complementing each other and one indeed giving life to the other. When I learned of the existence of the “animal” through Mr. Hans Jakob Siber, the internationally renowned paleontologist, my eyes lit up. Mr. Siber was the first person to trust me after my art studies by commissioning me to paint a mural for his museum, the Sauriermuseum. So, I was eager to collaborate with him again. This TRX is almost a legendary beast, and I immediately made the connection with our watchmaking creation.”
