Why MB&F Ousted Green For The New Blue MB&F LM Perpetual EVO

It was back in 2015 that MB&F unveiled its first ever Legacy Machine Perpetual watch (LM Perpetual). In the ensuring nine years, it has undergone several iterations and even an evolution to the LM Perpetual EVO watch in 2020. Now, the brand eschews its LM Perpetual Evo Green model to make room for the newest MB&F LM Perpetual EVO blue version.

The alluring new piece is crafted in titanium with black calendar rings and smaller hours/minutes offset dial at 12:00  set against a stunning sky blue mainplate as the backdrop. While it is stunning, it replaces the titanium and green version that has now been discontinued.

So why drop the green when so many other brands are jumping on the green bandwagon? Partly, of course, because the pale blue version is such a  stunner. Plus the fact that it is new. Add to that the complexity of making this watch and the capacities  for production that this independent brand has, and one can quickly surmise that the only reason we have to ditch the green is to make room for the blue to come to life. Much as MB&F watchmakers and friends are masters, they just can’t do it all. It is time to retire the green version.

MB&F LM Perpetual Evo Blue retails for $198,000.

Remember the LM Perpetual EVO  watch was an evolution in and of itself of the original, which was the brainchild of Stephen McDonnell and showcased  a perpetual calendar tracking system. When the EVO came along, it added bells and whistles for today’s active lifestyles: a FlexRing shock absorber, 80m of water resistance, screw-down crown, rubber strap, Super-LumiNova, and a redesigned, ergonomic cases in high-resistance materials. After the three launch editions in zirconium – with dial plates in orange, dark blue and black – the brand released the grade 5 titanium case model  with green dial plate in 2021 – the one now discontinued.

I don’t think MB&F fans will mind, though, since the new blue version, retailing for $198,000, is  so magnificent. Naturally, limited numbers will be made given the complexity of building this watch.
